What You Will Do

This position will primarily focus on the implementation of the best automation software in the world. Biosero designs and implements laboratory automation workflows for biological & pharmacological research, clinical diagnostics, academia, and other scientific areas. To ensure this, there is an important need to understand the unique logistics that are associated with the proper execution of these specific processes. A prior history of being an end-user of automation systems is essential. The familiarity with scripting languages (C#, JavaScript, Python or Visual Basic), and past roles with experience in the laboratory automation environment utilizing liquid handlers will be extremely beneficial and preferred. As a Field Applications Scientist, you will work with the customer to generate a Green Button Go program that fulfills the workflow requirements, operate collaboratively with internal teams to assist with the generation of acceptance criteria and associated documentation. As the needs of the customer may change and evolve, you will also provide support of any Biosero delivered work cells as needed. As a Field Applications Scientist, you will act as a Technical Lead on automation projects. As required, this position will include travel to the customer site to implement the automation workflow solution using the Green Button Go software, to assist/support the testing of device drivers, and to assist with the deployment of the automation work cell when necessary. Ability to travel (including internationally) 30-50%.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Be a resource that can interact with the customer with relevant workflow questions
  • Excellent technical acumen to: 
    • collaboratively interpret needs of the project
    • determine & mitigate any risks to the project
    • assemble requirements derived from a statement of work (SOW) to generate acceptance criteria documentation 
    • execute upon the implementation
  • Understand the customer’s needs for success 
  • Deliver automated solutions within Green Button Go Scheduler software
  • Identify workflow scenarios that require significant development and customization that may pose risks during the implementation phase
  • Be a conduit to transfer important information within company and help support other implementations
  • Be a part of other projects and consultative opportunities where necessary
  • Engage with customers and Biosero partners to help provide the best experience of a successful automated solution
  • Where possible, contribute to marketing efforts to generate material that will promote Biosero products
  • Provide customer training on Green Button Go Scheduler.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related subjects 
  • 3 to 5 years of practical hands-on laboratory experience
  • Advanced degrees and specialization may be beneficial but not required

Training, Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications

  • Experience with laboratory automation manufacturers (Agilent, ThermoFisher Scientific & HighRes) and their instrumentation
  • Familiarity with automation friendly equipment
  • Knowledge to utilize programming/scripting languages (C#, JavaScript, Python or Visual Basic)
